Urgent Petition Regarding Targeted Hindu Killings in Kashmir and Protection of Hindu Community Interests in Australia
Dear Hon Prime Minister Albanese,
I write to you on behalf of concerned members of the Australian Hindu community to express our deep anguish over the recent targeted terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where Hindus were singled out and brutally murdered by extremists associated with radical Islamic terrorism.
Such heinous incidents reverberate far beyond the immediate region. They strike at the hearts of Hindus across the world, including here in Australia, generating profound distress, anxiety, and concern for our safety and future.
The Hindu community has been, and continues to be, a vital contributor to Australia's success story. Hindus are among the highest educated and most economically productive groups in Australia, playing critical roles in healthcare, technology, education, finance, and entrepreneurship. We are a peaceful, law-abiding community that strongly upholds the values of democracy, pluralism, mutual respect, and non-violence — values that are also foundational to Australia.
It is therefore imperative that the issues affecting Hindus — whether occurring internationally or through emerging domestic risks — are acknowledged, taken seriously, and addressed with decisive action by our government.
In light of the recent events, and growing global threats posed by radical religious extremism, we respectfully petition the Australian Government to:
-
Raise the issue of targeted Hindu killings in Kashmir in the Australian Parliament, and publicly condemn the religiously motivated targeting of Hindus.
-
Clearly articulate Australia's opposition to all forms of terrorism, including those perpetrated under the banner of radical Islamic ideology.
-
Strengthen protection of the Hindu community's interests and concerns within Australian policymaking, recognising the immense contribution Hindus make to Australia's social and economic fabric.
-
Conduct a comprehensive audit and inspection of all Islamic schools, mosques, and religious organisations operating in Australia to ensure they are not promoting extremist ideologies that are incompatible with Australian values.
-
Immediately suspend all public funding, grants, and financial support to Islamic organisations until such full and transparent audits and inspections are completed, and compliance with Australian values of democracy, secularism, equality, and mutual respect is firmly established.
We are deeply concerned by credible reports and investigations suggesting that in some instances, educational and religious institutions have failed to properly vet teaching materials, instead exposing young minds to radicalised narratives.
Unchecked, such radicalisation threatens the very social cohesion and peaceful multiculturalism that Australia prides itself upon.
It is unacceptable that taxpayer funds should be used to support organisations that may be undermining the values of freedom, equality, and tolerance that bind our society together. A clear message must be sent that while religious freedom is respected, there will be zero tolerance for extremism, segregationism, or the promotion of hatred under any guise.
Unchecked radicalisation does not only threaten Hindus — it threatens the safety, security, and harmony of all Australians.
Prime Minister, your leadership is urgently needed to ensure that Australia remains a safe, inclusive, and peaceful nation for all communities. The Hindu community respectfully asks that our concerns be acknowledged, our contributions recognised, and meaningful action taken to protect our interests both now and into the future.
We look forward to your positive response and swift action on this matter.
